YOUTH CAMPS
Boys Basketball—Grades 5-8
June 2-6
9:30- 11 a.m.
Coal City High School Competition Gym
Players will develop fundamental skills of basketball. These skills include ball handling, shooting, passing and defense. The camp will be structured as station work, followed by a daily contest and finish with scrimmages. The qualities of sportsmanship, selflessness, and work ethic that they want to see in future Coalers will also be taught. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.

Tennis—Grades K-12

Coal City High School Tennis Courts
Camp will focus on the proper technique to hit various ground strokes and serves. Other areas of focus will be on keeping score and court coverage, along with court positioning. Various drills and games will be played to develop skills and coordination. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and prizes won during games.

Wrestling—Grades K-4

Campers will learn the proper techniques and set-ups to take their opponent down. They will also learn how to defend their opponent’s takedown attempts. Wrestlers will also learn multiple pinning combinations, set-ups and escape techniques, as well as body awareness, mental toughness, mat awareness and how to take advantage of the opponent’s weaknesses.

High School Soccer Field
Camp will focus on offensive skills including dribbling, shooting, crossing and finishing. Defensive skills including footwork, positioning, pressure and support. Along with goalkeeping, possession through movement and passing, goalie training, fun games for conditioning, small sided scrimmages daily and a 3 v 3 tournament.

Campers will work on offensive strategy—bunts, hitting, base running and steals. Defensive strategy—infield, outfield, pitching, coaching and communicating. As well as team work to have success on and off the field.

Daily emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the game. Monday is offensive day focused on hitting and batting; Tuesday is defensive day focused on infield and outfield play; Wednesday is team day with a focus on relays, cutoffs and run downs; Thursday is individual day with a focus on positions and contests, and Friday is an instructional scrimmage day.
