Fifth grade students in Mrs. Gaffigan’s class have been participating in a variety of March Madness® themed activities over the course of the past few weeks. One highlight has been the March Madness® Multiplication Tournament, where students have competed in fast-paced challenges to solve multiplication problems, earning points for each correct answer, much like the teams in the basketball tournament. Additionally, students have shown off their creativity and teamwork with a hands-on project—designing and building mini basketball catapults. Using simple materials, they’ve worked in groups to launch small basketballs into hoops. Whether it involved solving math problems, cheering on classmates, or perfecting their catapult designs, the fifth graders have shown teamwork and creativity all month long!
