Chicago Wolves mascot “skates” in with a message

The Chicago Wolves know reading is fun and rewarding, and the hockey organization has several initiatives that encourage kids to discover the enjoyment of picking up a book and skating into the story.

Skates, the Chicago Wolves mascot, visited Coal City’s fourth and fifth grade students on Friday, Jan. 17 with a message that reading is fun. In turn, several students were able to select a new book to take home. Others had the chance to challenge Skates in various contests from dizzy bats to races around the school gym. Skates and the students also sang and danced and a lot of high fives were handed out by the students' new furry friend.
