Coal City Middle School hosted the 17 team Coalers Wrestling Invitational last weekend, and battled hard to finish in second place.
The Coalers had 15 individual medal winners led by first place finishers Ryder Gill and Carter Wix.
Second place medalists were Dominic Zuccarello and Levi Marshall, and third place finishes were posted by Camden Schott and Gavin Roudis.
Kamden Gabehart earned fourth place, on the podium in fifth place were Grady Jensen and Phoenix Senodenos, and Eathyn Rivera finished sixth in his weight class.
Picking up wins at the invitational—Brantley Brooks, Cody Kozlowski, Ryan Housman, Max Marketti, Ryker Senodenos, Collin Ness, Banien Durkee, Zack Babcock, Patrick Tibble, William Teague, Travis Blatzheim, and Xavier Banks.
The middle school wrestling team is composed of fifth to eighth graders.
The Coalers will be on the road tonight [Tuesday, Jan. 14] at Channahon and will travel to Morris on Thursday, Jan. 16.
