Second and third grade musicians at Coal City Elementary School have been working on precorders. According to music teacher Ann Kodat, this helps them develop many skills including learning to read music, listening to match others, self-facilitated practicing, and developing specific motor skills.
“One of my favorite things about the fourth and fifth graders moving into our building is that the beginning band is here,” Mrs. Kodat said. The director, Mr. Brimm, will bring small groups into the elementary school music classes for quick performances.
“I keep trying to talk him into a "Hot Cross Buns" competition once second grade reaches that level [on precorder],” Mrs. Kodat said. Stay tuned....
