In Mrs. Moir’s sixth grade math class, students have been working hard on solving expressions by applying the order of operations. They worked in groups to solve 4 sets of expressions. The students did a great job helping each other by talking about the steps they used to solve each expression. If they didn’t get the same answer, they worked through their differences.
“I was impressed with their communication using math terms and listening to each other to determine who was correct,” said Mrs. Moir.
Students will continue to expand their math knowledge and skills to solve expressions with decimals and fractions.Throughout the year they will continue to increase their algebraic skills through meaningful lessons.
