Walking the alphabet runway

Students in Mrs. Wren and Miss Jackman’s kindergarten class at Coal City Early Childhood Center showcased their learning style with their ABC Bootcamp Fashion Show.

Mrs. Wren explained that during the first 26 days of school, the students are  introduced to each letter, the sound it makes, and a variety of vocabulary that begins with that sound.

“Our students have been working so hard to learn the letters and sounds of our alphabet,” Mrs. Wren said.

To showcase what they have learned, the  kindergarten students created paper bag vests, each one representing  a letter of the alphabet  and the embellishments featured items that started with the letter assigned to the student.

Each student walked the red carpet and shared their letter and its sound to their invited guests that sat in rows along the runway. From A to Z the students strolled down the red carpet and when every letter was presented they sang their ABC song.

The teachers shared that in kindergarten they work with the students on identifying upper and lowercase letters and the sounds each letter makes as this helps the kids become amazing readers and writers.

“We are so proud of the hard work our students have put in,” the teachers said.
