In Mr. Larson’s first hour math class at Coal City Middle School, they have been working on using the integer rules with rational numbers. Students are preparing to take their assessment over rational numbers. Then they will begin a rates/ratios/ and proportions unit where the students will be finding unit rates and linking that to the constant of proportionality and what that looks like in a table, graph, and an equation.
Mr. Larson’s third and fourth hour math classes are in the middle of their unit on rates/ratios and proportions. Students are finding the constant of proportionality in
graphs, equations and tables. They are understanding that your constant of
proportionality is the same as the unit rate. They will finish the unit this week
and begin their expressions unit where they learn about the distributive property.
