Passing of Board Member

It is with a heavy heart we share the loss of a staple in the Coal City School District Community.  Board Member Mary Gill passed away yesterday.  Mary has been a community member for years, a mother to children in our district, a grandmother to students in our district, and has served selflessly on the Board of Education since November of 1997.  Mary has been heavily involved in many District and Board initiatives, served on numerous committees, and was always willing to lend a hand by attending a meeting or school event.  She would have celebrated her 27th year of service to District 1 this November.  During her nearly 27 years of service, Mary was also the Secretary of the Board of Education for 24 years.  Her 27 years on the Board of Education and 24 years as a Board Officer are both the longest tenures in District history.  The District extends our deepest condolences to Mary’s family and friends.
