Concert and awards season

 

The Coal City High School Choir took audience members on a trip through the decades at its annual spring concert on May 2.  As the final event of the year for the group, it also was a time to recognize students for their contributions to the vocal music program. 

 

Director Michael Kren presented the following awards voted on by choir members—

Lana Larsen, Most Improved; Adaline Dowling, Most Inspirational, and Olivia Sage, Hardest Working.

 

This year’s Bonnie McDowell Spirit of Music Award was presented to senior Elsa Bunton. Olivia Sage, a sophomore, was the recipient of the Barbara J. Miller Award and the National School Choral Award was presented to senior Stephen Byers, Jr. 

 

Choir Awards were also presented to members of the Coal City Middle School Choirs at their movie themed concert on April 30. 

 

Eighth grade award recipients were Patrick Osipavicius, Most Improved; Brady Pierson, Most Inspirational; Tommy Poole, Hardest Working, and Alana Senisais, Directors Award.

 

Seventh grade award winners were Emma Sinkular, Most Improved; Hailey Potuznik, Hardest Working, and Jackson Hollis, Most Inspirational.

 

Sixth grade awards selected by the students went to Gabby Byers, Most Energy at 7 p.m.; Pearl Friddle, Ability to smile through it all even with a cast, and Cele Gordon, Hardest Working.
