Intermediate School students in Miss Connelly’s fourth grade music class started their ukulele unit after having finished their choral unit with a fun filled concert. Students pick ukuleles at random and get to start class by opening their cases to see “who” they got. Students in Coal City schools spend three years on ukuleles, starting in fourth grade and ending in sixth. Miss Connelly’s fourth graders will learn the basics such as strumming, instrument parts, string names and how to read ukulele music.
